The engaged, pregnant, twenty-three year old sat in small coffee shop, eating a cookie and drinking 2% milk. She had no idea if she could drink coffee when she was pregnant. She was staying away from anything that could harm her child even if, she was only about a month along. She gotten pregnant a few weeks back and was purposed to soon after that. Young Jenah Brooks had no idea where her life was headed after this baby. She honestly didn't even know if the man she was engaged to was someone she wanted to be with for the rest of her life. Jenah loved Luke's personality and how funny he could be. But, she wasn't in love with him. Jenah sometimes contemplated wanting the child. But, she knew that she would never do anything to harm what was her own blood, that she helped to create. Jenah sighed as she stayed deep in thought while playing with her untouched cookie.
After a few more minutes of thinking about her and Luke's relationship, she snapped out of it and began to bite little bits of her cookie. She wasn't even all that hungry. She had been craving something, she just didn't know what. Pregnancy was very confusing at times and she hadn't even prepared for it. They had just been hooking up which considering Jenah's background was out of the question but she had found herself attracted to Luke beyond words and she wanted it to happen. But, she didn't want the baby to happen. Jenah was hoping this would all make sense to her soon because she was beginning to lose hope for her relationship and baby. What was she going to do? Luke wasn't someone she saw raising a child and they were both so young.
Jenah finished her cookie and drank some of her milk before it starting get warm before she realized that Luke wasn't even here yet. Yes, they did live with each other but Jenah had some errands to run so she had told him to meet her here after she was finished. Maybe he was busy doing something else. Jenah wondered if he was with another woman. Would he do that knowing he had a kid on the way? Jenah didn't know. It wasn't like she knew the guy to be her soul mate. She looked out the window for him but didn't see him yet. Jenah tried not to worry but she honestly did want him there. She couldn't do this alone.

Dammit, dammit, DAMMIT. You're not supposed to be late with Jen. Luke nodded tiredly in response to his inner voice. He knew that. Most things he was late for. Work. Appointments. Social occasions. In fact, he couldn't think of any time where he'd been punctual in a long while, but this he was not supposed to be late for. He'd made a promise to himself that he was going to be reliable... at least, he was going to be reliable where Jenah and his unborn child were concerned. It was the least he could do.
Luke had never really wanted to be a father. Or to get married. He'd imagined his life playing out in a haze of parties and flings before he eventually died, middle-aged and alone. Not an appealing prospect, but it was the best he'd ever dared hope for. Jenah was a nice girl. She was very pretty and very sweet and they'd been having a great deal of fun. Nothing too serious, and that was the way he'd hoped it would stay. But suddenly... boom! An accident with contraception later and here they were. Trying to be too serious, too suddenly.
Now that this had happened, Luke wanted to be there for their baby. Kids need two parents, after all. He was sure that he would love it, when it was born. He was sure that he could love Jen... if he tried. Given enough time and effort, it was possible to make yourself love someone... wasn't it?
He shook his head, shaking off the philosophical questions. Maybe he was still a little drunk from yesterday... or this morning... or whenever. That was part of the reason he was so late. He'd taken a last minute cold shower in a bid to sober up before he hurried out the door to meet her. His harried appearance bore the evidence of his disorganisation; hair still damp from the shower, the buttons on his shirt incorrectly fastened. But at least he was here, and he wasn't too late. Not late enough that she'd given up waiting for him and left.
The bell above the door clanged as he pushed it open and head inside. This place... God, he hated it. Too overpriced, too up itself. He'd much rather be heading into a bar or the club or something, but he supposed this was where 'grown up's went to meet up. How dull. He spotted Jenah quickly and smiled wearily as he made his way over to her. That was a good sign, wasn't it? The fact that seeing her made him smile. That was something.
"Hey," He leant down to kiss her briefly on the cheek by way of greeting, before straightening up and sinking down in the chair opposite her. "Sorry... I'm not too late, am I?"
