Veronica brushed a curled strand of hair from her eye as she made her way inside the door of the bistro, she had come here almsot every day for the past three years, almost all the wait staff knew her by name. A light smile flickered over her lips as she made her way past the " please wait to be seated" sign, and manovered her way around a few tables. In the far back corner of the resturant, there was a table set for two, a small reserved sign sat upon it. Dominic and Veronica had established their brunch dates a few years ago, to make sure that there would always be time taken from the day to keep up with one another. Larosa's had become their meeting place, and after the third month of their daily visits, they were given a table, souly for their use.
Ronnie set her purse down on the far side of the chair as she took her seat, bright blue eyes glancing quickly about the resturant for any farmiluar faces. This table had heard more then its fair share of wild stories, mostly from Dominic, but she had shared a few herself. Lightly she let her finger tips trail over the cream coloured table cloth before resting her hands in her lap. There was no real point in glancing at the menu yet, she'd wait for Dom to show up before doing that. It was part of the tradition and routen of their brunches, you look at the menu togeather, and order at the sametime, not one before the other. Though it seemed if Dominic was earlier then Veronica, he always had a bottle of wine corked and a glass poured all ready. That was one of the things she loved about him, that he had his own way of doing things and he didn't care at all what anyone thought of him.
She lightly smoothed out the skirt of her white satin dress, even though she had no were else to be that day, Ronnie never showed up to brunch in her sweats or pajamas. She loved to get dressed up, and when in the company of Dom she had to. That man had more class in one pinky finger then the majority of the entire male population. He seemed to always be well dressed, even his pj's were made of silk or some extravagent fabric. Ronnie couldn't help but smile slightly at the thought of all the suits and dress shirts Dominic owned. He was so completely diffrent from her, yet the two seemed to mesh togeather so perfectly, like two misplaced little peas in a pod.

Usually Dominic Barrett was always on time for everything, and technically, he still was. There were ten minutes left to make a fashionably late entrance. Casting a quick glance down at his watch, he reached up to tuck his tie underneath his suit top, before smoothing down the collar of his shirt. He didn't understand the fascination with looking unkempt nowadays. Dom wouldn't be caught dead with his collar propped up and his pants falling down to the floor. Once everything was in place, he grabbed his blackberry and headed outside to meet his driver. This was a different one than the one who left him hanging at the club last week, leaving Dom with some guys from work who swore that beer was a delicacy. It was completely outrageous, so he introduced them to the finest wines in Louisiana... though considering that the state only had about a measly seven wineries, most of them had been imported.
As soon as they pulled up to the Bistro, a soft smirk spread across Dominic's lips, though it was the closest thing to a smile than he'd offered in years. His schedule was always cleared for this small moment everyday where he would come here to spend some time with his best friend, Veronica. There weren't alot of people that he could say he really trusted in this world, not even his own father, but she was different. He instructed the driver upon when to return, before turning on his heel and heading towards the front door. A couple of young women were walking in too, so he held the door open for them, causing a small blush to form on their cheeks from his gentlemanly actions. Dom simply grinned at them, that ever so charming Barrett grin that had become his trademark over the years. If anyone knew it the best, it was Ronnie.
In other places, Dominic would have to go through the trouble of making reservations. But here, they knew him by glance. Offering him a small nod, one of the waiters nodded towards his usual table. "Thank you, my good man," came his smooth, velvety reply before he headed towards the table where Veronica was patiently waiting for him. As usual, she had not ordered. Miss Margarita, or Margie, as he'd nicknamed her as of late, was a very upstanding lady. Sometimes Dom wasn't sure how she put up with his antics, but they got along really well. In fact, he couldn't remember the last time they fought about something--at least not anything serious, apart from the occasional chic flick phenomenon. "You look absolutely stunning as usual, love," Dominic spoke once he was within hearing distance of his companion. "I hope you weren't expecting someone else, because I'm sure that I can't pass up this afternoon with you... they'll have to pencil in another day." Offering her a playful wink, he moved to sit down on the other side of the table with a broad, but warm grin.

Veronica had spent the past few nights at home, not going in for her night shifts, simpley staying in and laying in bed watching hours upon hours of girly movies and sappy tv shows. Though as far as the world knew, other then her co-workers of course, she had gone to both her shifts the past few nights. Even her text messages to Dominic and a few other friends had told of her, folding clothes, helping customers and being bored because there was not much to do. It wasn't that she liked lying to anyone, lying wasn't in her nature, but it was also not in her nature to have peoples pity, to see those sorwful eyes looking her way, or to have that ever present smile of hers faulter. She enjoyed being the one to take care of everyone else, not being the one being taken care of.
Ronnie lightly bit down on her lower lip as her eyes caught sight of that well dressed devil coming through the front door of the bistro. Dominic never let a moment pass to impress the ladies, one way or another, be it a small gesture or some big elabriate compliment. It always amused Ronnie to watch him work his charm, his eyes always held a diffrent light when he was being Dominic Barret.
She let her eyes land lightly on his face as he made his way closer to the table, a coy small smile on her lips, slowly growing and spreading into a warm Veronica smile. " Me? Waiting for someone else? I do believe I'm at our table, Mr. Barrett, so that makes me yours for the after noon." A light laugh left her lips as he took his seat. " You cleaned up rather nicely yourself today, Dom. " She smiled again. His teasing and taughnting was part of his charm, at least to Veronica it was. " How was the rest of your night last night? I fell asleep on the couch watching the Wedding Planner." of course that wasn't exactly true, but there was no trace of a lie on her face.

Most times when his phone rang or made any kind of movement, Dominic was never the type to jump at the chance to answer it. He wasn't desperate. There was a certain amount of time that he left it ringing on purpose, before reaching over to flip it open. But lately his texting with Ronnie had left him glancing at his blackberry every now and then, wondering what quirky little night she would plan out next. He didn't realize that he was spending more and more time with her, either because he went over to her place to catch a late night flick, or because suddenly it was necessary to skip out on a date to pick up a bottle of Cardonnay. Dom just didn't register the change because she was his best friend. Of course, those were just on his nights off, because he did work as a manager at Vacant and things could get to be pretty hectic sometimes. People just didn't know how to be civilized anymore, it was ridiculous.
As soon as his brown eyes caught sight of Veronica, it was like he was right where he was meant to be. He had never been one for relationships, so this commitment everyday was something that most people raised a brow at when he so much as mentioned it, but you had to remember how close Ronnie was to him. Dom would go out of his way to see her, even if that meant turning down his charm for an hour of a little chit-chat with his favorite blond. Not many others could say that this upper class ambitious man gave them the time of day.
"Indeed you are. I must be a lucky man," he replied with a small, light-hearted chuckle rumbling in his throat, knowing that he was good, but she was better. She never let one little remark pass her by, she always caught on to them quickly. It was a little jabber that Dom very much enjoyed in his day. "Oh, why thank you, Ronnie. You can't imagine the state that this tie was in from a few nights ago... I had no idea where it started or where it ended." Glancing down at the red tie, he then gave a triumphant grin, having been able to crack through the knot somehow. What a mess though. That wine would be the death of him someday. "Last night? Not too bad. Got a new driver after that little fiasco..." He raised his brows a little for emphasis, before grinning again. "The Wedding Planner, ehh? I'm pretty sure you've bribed me to see it at some point. You just never learn, Veronica."
